Running the light system at Borgata's opulent mur.mur can be more exciting than playing at one of its casino's tables, says longtime LJ Matthew Beecher. "My current position is awesome," he says. "I've been given great opportunities to meet and work with some of the largest DJs in the world and work with some of the best pieces of equipment." Beecher runs the club's SJ Lighting-designed rig - which he helped program - every night the club is open. "The grandMA light is an extremely versatile console I can make anything happen with," he says. "I also have a huge LED system which is second to none in Atlantic City." -PM |

At age 22, Eric Moyano has already manned the lights behind Deep Dish, Victor Calderone, and many other top international DJs. Now at home in New Jersey's brand new Bliss, Moyano is the club's operator, tech, and programmer. "I'm lucky that the nightclub's owner has put such great emphasis on lighting. They want a great light show and trust me to give it to them," he says. "I found a place that appreciates my artwork and puts me in an environment to accomplish much greater things." -PM |

One can certainly feel secure in handing someone like Richard Worboys your lighting controller, given the many accolades (UK Light Jockey winner in 1995; World Light Jockey champion in 1997) and high-profile corporate gigs for Jet Las Vegas and Hard Rock Hotel on his resume. But he's also proved himself a valuable clutch player at Avalon, fully reprogramming lighting cues in as little as 30 minutes before the club opens on a Showcad Artist keyboard set-up of his own design. With each design specifically suited for each DJ performance, Worboys makes the subtle art of nightlife illumination seem as easy as, well, flicking a switch. -JH |

With more than a decade on the boards, Timmy Lights is mega-venue Pacha's go-to marathon man, setting the mood for the club's resident DJs, like Jonathan Peters and Best Resident DJ nominee Boris, who are known to go well into Sunday afternoon. "Pacha has been the best," says Timmy. "They have all-new gear and an onsite tech to assist with any issue that may arise throughout the night." Timmy uses a Hog iPC controller with three touch screen monitors to control the mostly Robe rig. "He's the best," says Boris. -PM |
