March
24, 2006 (Nocturnal,
Miami)
If at first you don't succeed...book the same venue again! The Club World Awards finally happened on the rooftop of Nocturnal in 2006, after the club wasn't able to open in time for the 2005 ceremony (see below). The stunning view of the Miami skyline, the very trippy planetarium-style video dome, and the staff's hospitality almost made it worth the wait.
Hosted by DJ garage band DJs Are Alive! (The Scumfrog, Kristine W, DJ Skribble, D:Fuse and Static Revenger), the 90-minute ceremony was a fun-filled affair, featuring an impromptu vocal performance by Kristine W, and a historic moment when Danny Tenaglia presented François K with his second consecutive Best Resident DJ award.
New York and Las Vegas dominated the top awards, with wins for Crobar New York (Best Superclub), Cielo New York (Best Club), Tabu Las Vegas (Best Lounge), and Tao Las Vegas (Best New Venue).

March
23, 2005 (Pure,
Miami)
Despite
an 11th-hour venue change, the third annual Club World Awards were
the most successful yet. The industry's heavy hitters and glitterati
– Murk, Christopher Lawrence, Kelly Osbourne
and Vivid adult film stars as Globe Girls – made their way
to Pure when even local cabbies were getting lost. The drama only
amped up the excitement at the ceremony, which was hosted by the
suave and charming Scumfrog, with impromptu comedic
stage antics by door diva Alan T and unscripted
repartee between presenters like D:Fuse and Sandra
Collins.
New York was there to represent as Cielo
earned “Best Club” honors, Asseteria
snagged “Best Party,” Francois K was
kinged “Best Resident DJ,” Sullivan Room
was voted number one in the “People's Choice NightStalker
Award,” and crobar took home awards in all
four categories for which it was nominated. Pioneer's DVJ-X1
trumped the “Best Video Product” category and
funnyman/DJ/celeb-kin Timbo accepted the “Best LED Product”
award for Color Kinetics with a sales-pitch acceptance
speech to boot. Veteran Tabu held its place earning
“Best Lounge” for a second year and Atlanta broke out
with Compound's win for “Best New.”
SJ Lighting and V Squared Labs
humbly accepted awards for “Best Lighting System” and
“Best Video System,” respectively.

Miami)
Club
World’s first year in Miami was a success, with a crowd of
industry insiders showing up to support. The Vegas club crew was
definitely in the house, and celebrated four major wins: “Best
New Venue” and “Best Sound System”
for free-standing “metaclub” Ice, and
“Best Lounge” and “Best
Video System” for MGM Grand ultra-lounge Tabu.
Meanwhile, DJ gear manufacturer Pioneer, Denver
club The Church, and interior designer Stephane
Dupoux all started mini-dynasties, winning in their respective
categories for the second year in a row. Danny Tenaglia
won the “Best Resident DJ” disco globe
for his Be Yourself residency at New York’s Arc, which would
close permanently two months later. But the big story of the night
was “Best Superclub” winner Sound
Factory: Just a day before, the NYPD raided the club and
arrested its owner. It never reopened.

Club
Systems took great pride in introducing
Tabu, and its now-legendary four-million-dollar interior and touch-responsive
video system, to the national club community through this ceremony.
Attendees perched on lush chaises and sipped cocktails delivered
by model-waitresses while the entire Testa staff presented the awards.
Miami venues logged six wins, including the coveted “Best
Sound System” prize for Infinite Audio and owner
Louis Puig’s Space; and “Best
New Venue” for the now-defunct Maze.
Space’s Oscar G was on hand to accept his
“Best Resident DJ” disco globe, and
to spin at Studio 54 later that night. After the ceremony, DJ Robbie
Rivera took the Tabu decks and rocked the house ‘til the morning.
